Field Trip
I leave the homestead about once a week for town. When I first began homesteading, before I knew that's what I was doing, I set a goal. I wanted to get to a point of going to town just once a month. Well, seven years later, I've accomplished that twice, but I'm still working toward that. I try to pack a lot into a trip to town, so by the time I get home, it's chore time and I'm exhausted, but this trip was different . . . COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! My granddaughter, Sadie, and I headed to town about 11:15 and what a day we had! She had mentioned wanting to check out Noah's Ark Pet Shop in Neosho, but we were going to Joplin. G-d has apparently been blessing this business because they have now expanded to opening another store in Joplin! As it turned out, it's right across the street from where Sadie had already said she wanted to go to lunch. The day was off to a great start! Lunch was amazing. The food was fine, but it was absolutely delightful to "do lunch" with this stunning young lady. She's just not a little girl anymore! After lunch, it was off to Michael's for beads. Bracelets are all the rave and we thought it would be a fun project with her sister, Adeline, who has bracelets up to her elbows. In we walked to what felt like the favor of G-d, the beads were 40% off! Well, not all of the beads, but after our first trip through the checkout, we found it was even better beads than we had chosen . . . A quick stop at the grocery store, and then on to Business Calls. My businesses are doing okay for start-up, but it's time to enlarge our customer base and it was quite a privilege to make the calls with the future CEO of The Land of Goshen, LLC. Had a wonderful visit with Suzanne. Then it was on to the feed store to buy some alfalfa and discuss lye soap. It's important to do business with folks that do business with us. As Sadie and I were finally heading home after 5, I realized rather than exhausted, I was exhilarated! The trip to town had been wonderful! I'm not ready to move back to town or anything, but I may reconsider my goal.
