My Favorite Kind of Day
Realizing we are all different, and although I've been told in no uncertain terms how absolutely unreasonable I am, here at the Homestead, I'm going to share today what my favorite kind of day is. I'm also going to share today, that nobody has ever been forced to experience one of these with me. I do have a Granddaughter that enjoys this kind of day quite a bit, but she may just be being kind. At any rate, a day like I am about to describe that also includes my favorite people, who just happen to be Grandchildren, is just a little taste of paradise right here on earth. Today, though I'm on my own, and it has been a wonderful day on the Homestead. I awoke about 4 am to the sound of rain. I love rain, so I got up, made sure it wasn't coming in the windows and began my prayer time. I love prayer time in the early morning. It seems that G-d is more talkative then. I don't know, maybe there aren't as many people talking to Him, or maybe it's the quiet. Could be the noise of the day drowns out the gentle voice that speaks to my spirit. An interesting revelation of love and trust came to me this morning to backdrop of the gentle rainfall. What a way to start the day! Of course, the coffee pot goes on when my feet hit the floor in the morning, no matter how early. Then, I began to plan my day. I had already put a load of laundry in to soak the night before, so I started the washer, set out new fragrances for completion, turned on the computer to answer my AllExpert questions, sent a message to my web builder, and perused a few of my regular pages on the web. By 5:30am, I felt like my day was underway enough to consider an experiment. I make an oil for aroma lamps that I call "Home and Hearth." My customers who have tried it all say the same thing. Everyone wants to know what they are baking . . . My web builder asked if I had any recipes that tasted like the aroma of the oil. So, today I decided to see if I could come up with something. Although I love doing chores in the rain, by the time it was daylight the rain had stopped, but the fragrance of rain lingered in the fresh cool morning air. After morning chores and my devotions, I became a mad scientist in the kitchen. The project is still rising . . . I'll be sure to make mention to let you know how it goes after baking. This year was so dry that the fruit did one of two things, dried up on the vine or branches or produced in abundance very small fruit. My granddaughter picked what grapes that hadn't become raisins and the apples I picked were just larger than golf balls, so the obvious solution for this is to improvise: GRAPLE JELLY. That newly combined flavor is also in the making today. I like to have a day in which I start a lot of projects, because even if I run out of daylight and have to carry something over to the next day, all started projects will get done. I'm not a procrastinator by nature, and I can't abandon a project once it's started so, this plan is effective for me. Whereas, if I only start what I'm sure I can get done before evening chores, a lot just isn't going to happen. That may not work for everyone, but it works for me. I've also noticed, the busier I am, the more positive I remain. It's not good for me to have too much free time. I got another chapter finished on my book today, and more of my Bible translation transferred. It's been a good day. Only one more load of laundry to fold, while my experiment bakes and dinner is already planned. Oh, and the gutter guys are here to give me a bid for catching rain water next spring, or this fall if it's installed in time. The fragrances are blending nicely and I'll be uploading my newest line of women's fragrances. My web builder, Brandon Heidrick is an amazing artist. He actually turned my profile into a wonderful cameo for my fragrance line. He really is quite gifted, he made me look good! As I near evening chores, I must say it's been a great day here at the Homestead.
