Since Hanukkah, I've really sought and sensed we American believers are so busy debating and discussing the Bible like it's some sort of history book, and competing like it's a Bible Bee. We analyze Paul's words ad nauseum, for the sake of what we say is "understanding." Countless hours have been spent on just what Messiah meant when the word "fulfill" translated from the Greek word "pleroo," appears in Matthew 5:17. As I received message after message warning against the celebration of Hanukkah, the passages of vain babblings, and ever learning but never gaining knowledge came to mind. I truly felt bad for those who dared to call a undocumented miracle, a myth. I've seen and heard people do their best to explain away a work of G-d by giving glory to the wisdom of man. That, in my understanding; is shaky ground.
When Y'hshuwah said his followers would do greater works, and John said, there was too much to record, why would believers even offer to discount or teach the disregard of a miracle? That's when this girl kicked it up a notch and asked Abba what we are missing, because obviously we are missing something. I've heard many say "love" would be the sign and wonder that follows believers. Well, I do believe love should be inherent in the life of a believer, because our Heavenly Father is love, but I think that's a cop-out. Besides, I've felt the "love" of some believers, and I would not base my life on their version of what the Bible means. Messiah knew His followers would be sinful humans who had repented. So, I've delved into my Scripture to see what's missing. Didn't Paul warn one of the churches that the endless debate and division actually made the Gospel seem uninviting?
What is the meaning of a true believer and what is it to "truly believe?" Perhaps, until we get close enough to a situation or circumstance that has no other option but to trust, we'll find out. I believe if we truly believe the Bible, we will be obedient to the Instructions contained therein. If we fail in an area, I believe we'll confess, repent, and once again seek to obey, rather than justifying disobedience with grace. Which brings me to the reason I think we don't really see the miracles contained in Scripture and the promise of more than we could even record. We utilize other options and we leave our personal obedience open to our personal interpretation. I am not even opening the can of worms of grace vs. law, because I think it's a strawman argument, but I do know, obedience is directly associated with health, provision, and victory in this life. Scripture says it is and the Word of YHWH stands forever.
Many are talking about teaching obedience, but the teachings are oppositional. Fear of YHWH, true fear of YHWH should involve being afraid to teach Scripture wrong, or afraid to say Abba didn't do something amazing. Some fear of disobeying Him wouldn't hurt, either! I do believe Abba will bless us with health when we trust and obey. I believe He provides when we obey and keep His Sabbath rest. Victory is seen when we face our problems in faith and respond to an accuser with Scripture. I realize everything isn't going to turn out the way we'd like it to, and often our idea of an "expected end" is not what Abba has in mind. We should be weary of "pat answer" Scripture quoted when things consistently don't work out . . . while obedience is considered optional.
