Trending

One morning, having finished devotions and still enjoying a cup of coffee, I found myself doodling.  Often my doodling amounts to a thought for an article or even a new book.  Sometimes it's a sketch for a drawing or painting, I'll probably never get around to; but not that morning.  In less than 10 minutes, there was a picture, as well as a list of supplies.  I sat back and looked.  What I had drawn was what would become new shelters for the goats.  When relocating to Goshen, I decided I didn't want a big barn or pole shed, as too much heat is lost in the winter.  A local flea market had these wonderful wooden boxes that made the best goat sheds, but since they were boxes, there was no watershed and the elements have taken their toll.

I figure the current boxes, pictured above; have one more winter in them, providing the snow isn't too heavy.

The new design has already been prototyped and is now slated for mass production.  So far, there are only two, but two more are cut and ready to be assembled.  This teepee design is great for heat conservation, as well as watershed.  The design has no waste in production and there's even a special little spot for babies to tuck in a corner with minimal heat loss.

As you can see, the doorway is on opposite sides, so these can be placed nearly face to face with walking room only, to offer windbreaks at the openings.  I'm pretty much picturing about a dozen of them randomly placed in each pasture.

The greatest thing about these structures, as if more is needed . . . They are portable, which means no muck!  Just pick them up and move them to a new clean spot, scatter some clean straw and voila, nice clean accommodations without shoveling!

Winter Blessings

Just a little winter update here.

So far, even through January, the water tubs have not needed more than a touch from my walking stick on Sabbath.  HalleluYah!

This last summer, I had to really watch myself and my attitude.  I confessed to Adonai, that I really was going to miss fresh tomatoes in the coming shemitah.  I ate fresh tomatoes all summer and fall, at every single opportunity.  Thankfully there was a great abundance, so there are a number of quarts in the cellar, but there's just nothing like a fresh juicy tomato.  I got to the point of also praying that I was conscious of the fact I didn't want to make my belly a god regarding this wonderful fresh produce.  It is possible to make an idol of a blessing, and/or creation.  Since Torah states we can eat what the ground produces through shemitah, just no tilling and tending, I worked that into my casual conversation as well.  As a child of the Creator, I interjected that I wouldn't mind and I promised I wouldn't cultivate a volunteer tomato plant this coming summer.

Regardless of what happens next summer, beyond what I would have ever thought to ask or imagine, I've been enjoying fresh tomatoes all winter, that were picked green before the frost.  I've made various posts and recorded photos through this winter season, but alas, I'm now down to one . . . Our Heavenly Father truly does bless beyond what our mind would imagine.  I had no idea I'd be eating fresh tomatoes from last year's garden, the end of January.

Whatever unfolds in this coming year, I have been blessed beyond measure.

Winter is Here

So many folks are talking about being tired and just generally not feeling well.  The weather has not been terribly cold, but it has been overcast for a number of consecutive days in many regions.  I'm thinking many of us could use a boost in Vitamin D.  There is a possibility of overdosing on Vitamin D, but that is rare.   Follow label instructions.  Vitamin D supplements may be just what's needed!  This link offers some interesting information on the subject of Vitamin D.

On a note of thanksgiving . . . there have been some mornings requiring the chopping of ice, but Abba has continued to grant my request.  I've not so much as lifted a stick to chop ice, much less an axe on Shabbat.  The prayer I prayed last year that Abba answered "affirmative" has thus far been confirmed again, this year.  Now, I'm not presumptuously setting back on my "blessed assurance," I continue to give thanks and praise Him for this wonderful blessing!

Even though winter has arrived, there has been very little snow, and thus far I've chopped ice seven times. I have not chopped ice on Shabbat.  HalleluYah!

UPDATE:  There was a drastic drop in temperature overnight and there was ice, this first day of the week.
