A Very Special Kind of Sharing
I had the most amazing time the other evening! I contacted a Pastor friend of mine and mentioned that I had a teaching regarding the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25. He invited me to share with his congregation last Sunday. Since I'm a Sabbath keeper, and churches are open mostly on Sunday, it seems the only time I attend a church is to "work." That works out fine and I had a wonderful time seeing people I knew and meeting folks I hadn't yet met. It was interesting in that the music folks weren't aware of the guest speaker, only that there was one and I'd slipped in when they weren't looking, so he continued the music beyond . . . By the time the misunderstanding was resolved and I was introduced, I informed everyone that I wasn't going to abbreviate the message, so hang on. It was nice. To quote an old saying about a long service, "We had church!" Amazingly, the last time I'd visited them, they were all very comfortable in their church traditions and ways of doing things, but interestingly, something had happened that was changing their perspectives. They wanted to know about gardening and canning and raising their own meat and they'd heard I had a business and wanted some soap, and then at the end of the service, I asked the Pastor to join me on the bema and he began to preach, confirming everything I'd shared and then some! It was quite an evening. Seems more folks are realizing the food is poisoning us and I even got to share a first hand account from a farmer I'd spoken with recently that raises row crops and cattle and he said, "They've done so much genetic modification to the corn, I don't feed corn to my cattle." I spoke with someone else that told me all about raising bizarre chickens that need to be butchered by 8 or 9 weeks or they'll fall over dead from their own weight. It would seem the times they are a changing and more people are realizing the food is lousy, and it's time to get back to gardening. Everybody has some talent that will sustain them in a simple natural and healthy life. I think sharing about Homesteading is almost as enjoyable as Homesteading!
