It seems the more I'm reminded that these are the end of days, and turbulent times are at hand, the more I want to breathe in and enjoy every moment we've been granted. My biggest regret is, of course, raising my children to think the "rat race" was normal and necessary. I was so bad at it! I tried to succeed at normal, but simply never could. As it turns out, I wasn't created to do what I spent my young adult years trying to do.
As I watch the leaves turn, daily, and realize today they are definitely falling with rapidity, I want all the more, to enjoy the beauty that is Ozark October. There are already a few trees with bare branches, serving as a reminder that truly seasons are fleeting, as are our days. Enjoying the moments our Creator has given us, seems to be just a tiny morsel of eternity. Every detail of nature was created by Him! To appreciate His handiwork, surely must bring Him pleasure. Knowing that to bring our Creator pleasure is the purpose of humanity, taking the time to show our appreciation is part of our reasonable service. The privilege of caring for His creation, tending the herds, working the land, is something I no longer see as merely an endeavor to be accomplished on the run.
Just as each spring flower is unique, every autumn leaf is as well. As the spring sunrises are breath taking, the autumn sunsets are mesmerizing. I'm truly sorry I wasted so many moments trying to be normal for things that didn't count. By that same token, I'm so thankful for the mercy and grace of our Heavenly Father that He has allowed me the opportunity to serve Him in a life in which I can appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the moment.
