Homesteading is not for the casually interested. I'm not trying to sound discouraging or haughty, but simply straight forward. Some people, many people, prefer a 9-5 job away from home and an evening of different sort of activities and some like to spend their evenings relaxing in front of a movie or whatever. We're all different, and I have truly realized this week, in moving my online store, that I would not by choice stay indoors all day long working on a computer.
I say how confining it was, and it felt like I could relate to mainstream work days with the deadline pressure, but I was still much more comfortable and casual than an office would be. I would truly not want to get up every morning to get dressed in business casual attire, fight rush hour to get to an office or cubical to stare at a monitor screen or shuffle papers, until it was time to face rush hour traffic again.
I realize, many people would read that paragraph and say, well you're making it sound terrible. My point exactly! To me, that would be terrible. There are people who think the life I embrace would be terrible to wake up to, day after day. So, my hope in all this, is that folks get figured out what they were created to do, and do it!
A homestead is not based upon size, but purpose, and holy is not based upon our accomplishment or self-evaluation, but rather our standing with our Creator. I am hoping, very soon, that this place will be a gathering place for other believers, but they also will be "homesteaders" ready to work the land, or ready to offer what they were created to do. Meanwhile, please let me remind us all, according to Deuteronomy 28, it's not about geographical location, and it's not based upon rural or urban, but the truth of the matter is, YHWH expects obedience to His Instructions. When the Creator of the universe went to the trouble to get His plan and Instructions written down, then sent His Son to set the example and pay the price, isn't it the very least we can do, to meet Him at His truth and seek to step into His plan?
