Many of the articles center around gardening this week, for two reasons. First, we are excited to introduce our new section, "Bloom Where You're Planted." The second reason is what I call a fun fact, in that the account of creation in Genesis 1, clearly indicates the plants were created at full maturity, ready for harvest. So, it only seems timely and fitting to introduce this new section at this time of the Set Apart Feasts of YHWH. It's not only a time of tending to garden harvest business, but of making those changes spiritually, that we would produce fruit worthy of harvest.
I was amazed at the second blooming of the green beans and the harvest has been abundantly more than I could have asked or imagined. As a matter of fact, as I'm typing this, I'm finishing the last canner full, and I noticed this morning, the beans are ready to pick again. Green beans have been a part of nearly every dinner for the past week. That's the one down side to internet friends. So few are close enough geographically, to be able to share with!
I've never been blessed in this manner before. Most years I do plant a second crop of green beans for a fall harvest, but this year, that wasn't the case. The early plants gave their yield, stopped producing, then just regenerated! I'm rather taken aback in that I've offered organic, no herbicide, no pesticide green beans for free, just come and pick, and received no takers. So, I'm sure after the Goshen Gazette is published today, I'll be back out in my garden. With this special second harvest, I don't dare waste the produce. It could be I'm just not yet acquainted with the person who will be blessed to have these green beans.
As I've learned to watch the signs in nature in transition to this Biblical agrarian lifestyle, for changing weather and changing seasons, I just can't help but get excited to know, regardless of the knowledge we gain, YHWH can still surprise us completely!
