When the The Goshen Gazette was first published, I gave my word that any errors would be followed with a retraction. Hopefully, we've been diligent about checking our sources thoroughly, but last week, here at Holy Homesteading, I discovered two errors. I had stated that I'd closed all the windows here and I discovered to my surprise, the morning it was below 40 degrees that one of my bedroom windows was still open.
When I mentioned finding shovels, the reference to cracking ice stated thirty" rather than "thirsty." Spell check doesn't correct wrong words that are spelled correctly. I do not have thirty goats, but they are counting on a drink as soon as they hear the backdoor open, when the water tub is frozen. I am trying to maintain a herd of about a dozen including the Grandchildren's but it's a bit larger than that right now. Still nowhere close to thirty.
I'm still working on the green house. I thought I had a plan, but the plan needs major revision . . . Meanwhile, the autumn mornings are crisp and the evening skies are picturesque. The one night the temperature dropped below 40 still did not bring a freeze, so I'm still enjoying kale and self seeded radishes. There are actually more radishes growing right now in the garden than I planted in the spring. I enjoyed radishes and radish pods til the plants were done, and now there is a greater abundance . . .
When we actually allow some plants to go to seed, to harvest seeds as Scripture instructs, not only will we have seeds to plant, but the wind scatters some as well. So as we are looking at one more year of planting and harvesting before the Shemitah, I have come a greater understanding of YHWH saying we could eat what "the land produces." Although the year after next, there will be no garden planted, I can eat what the land produces, and He is the Master of the wind.
