As the seasons change, so do the chores. The animals will be eating hay, rather than fresh pasture soon, so they will be needing additional nutrients to their diet. I am doing everything in my power to avoid any genetically modified feed, and maintain the "grass fed approach." Hay is simply not a good enough diet alone, so I've got beets, lots and lots of beets for the critters. As the pasture goes dormant, these will be a lovely dietary supplement to the hay that is already in place.
Autumn is a great time of preparation. As much as spring planting and summer preserving, autumn preparation is essential for winter survival. I'm not talking about the people shelter, here at Goshen, although I do know there are those who don't know where they are going to spend the winter. That is something that is occupying more of my thoughts and prayer time. These are uncertain times, and Y'hshuwah specifically instructed His followers to pray that the calamities do not happen in winter. Yet our government has planned the next one to take place in winter . . .
Shelters require straw bedding and wind breaks. Water tanks must be winterized and shovels placed strategically for breaking ice. A cold winter morning with thirsty critters, is no time to have to look for the shovel. The plants heading to the green house will be going there probably next week. I have officially closed all the windows now, so it's only a matter of time before there's a fire in the fireplace. I just can't enjoy the crackle of the fire, if there's anything left to do for winter, outdoors.
I am thankful to live where I do. I was speaking to a friend about the good things and the bad things of our current days and she simply said we have to take the bad with the good. That is so true. No place is perfect, and there is no place to hide from the events of the end of days, but I do know and am encouraged that when Y'hshuwah said to "be ready" we will be encouraged and given confirmation as we prepare.
The other evening, as I was "tucking in" all the critters for the evening, and picking a few things from the garden as the produce abundance ebbs with the changing season, I was blessed to witness a most glorious sunset.
