Whether working, or home waiting on a check; government shut down will show how many are dependent upon an undependable system. Sadly, it will also reveal who will be the first to be let down. As the headlines continue to mount from the mainstream media, I'm saddened that non-essential issues are repeated by most of the sources, while the more essential issues are only made available by alternative sources. Many in our society, regardless of the number of times they say they do not trust mainstream media, still insist that we alternative sources are not verified, and so, this dilemma has now become part of the problem, as well.
So many in our society are dependent upon a system that is undependable for sustenance. To add insult to injury, most of our society has no clue who to trust. In so many cases, the seniors would rather have the government and lawyers taking care of their affairs than the children they raised. That, alone, speaks volumes! Then there is the ever growing group of children who are being raised with their "needs" provided by the government, rather than a father, even if he is present.
We seem to have gotten rid of the wrong pride, and taken the shame out of begging, with a government that makes our provision on both ends of life. I cannot say with any certainty what will transpire from this situation. It may be just another step in desensitizing, as well as one step closer to the majority of our citizens moving toward a cashless society. I do see a real division coming as the cash disappears.
There will be those who will be sustained on electronic transactions and government vouchers, while others will be farther from mainstream with self-sustainability and barter, and a portion of those will be seeking the plan and provision of YHWH Yireh.
